In collaboration with Well of Wills – a 48 hour devising workshop in which 17 women, with varying performance experience, collaboratively create a 12-minute work of performance art to be performed at the House of Yes.
The final piece played with the structure of the Beauty Pageant, a pop culture symbol of misogyny and patriarchy (not to mention formerly owned by our President). Instead of competing, the chorus of women raise their voices collectively and proclaim, "I am the woman of my dreams". We hear singular female voices arise to testify that women embrace love knowing that love comes with great labor. For love, we choose to be courageous in the struggle.
